Dancer being lifted in to the air

NDCWales' new work highlighted in Dance Passion 2022

On BBC iPlayer there is a short section of National Dance Company’s Wales’ new work by Caroline Finn, Ludo, a darkly funny and high-energy dance about the importance of play.

Ludo was filmed at the Company’s home at the Dance House in the Wales Millennium Centre as part of Dance Passion 2022, a nationwide celebration of dance presented throughout February and March by BBC Arts and One Dance UK.

NDCWales joins companies like The Royal Ballet, Ballet Black, Motionhouse, Rambert, Tap Attack, Vidya Patel, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Akram Khan, Candoco Dance Company, Simple Cypher and more in a series of hour-long programmes from four hubs across the UK.

You can watch Ludo on BBC iPlayer now as part of the Dance Passion Highlights programme which was broadcast on BBC4 and also as part of an hour-long programme from the hub at Warwick Arts Centre from 29 March.

Also featured from Wales is Heart Land, created by Richard Chappell Dance and Amser/Time by Light/ Ladd/Emberton in collaboration with Culture Colony, two in a series of short films specially commissioned through a Dance Passion open call from BBC Arts and One Dance UK.

The full version of Ludo forms part of a triple bill touring venues across Wales and England from 3 March - 16 May. NDCWales’ One Another tour also features Codi by Anthony Matsena, a Zimbabwean born and Welsh Raised choreographer, and a world premiere, Wild Thoughts, by Andrea Costanzo Martini.
