the company members out for walks and cycle rides

Bringing the company together through movement

Recently, Team NDCWales set themselves the challenge to walk, run, cycle, swim and dance the equivalent of the 1310-mile round trip from Bangor in North Wales to Bonn in Germany.

Covid-19 has meant that the company has been unable to tour and perform since March 2020, so we undertook a challenge to help the company to recover and to continue moving together at a time when we are forced to be apart.

We began on 17th March, which would have been the opening night of our UK and European tour and ended on 19th May as this was the intended closing date of the tour.

Such is the commitment of our small but mighty team, we collectively completed the initial round trip by 19th April, but we were determined to keep it up to see how much further we could go by 19th May. From dancers and admin to the board of trustees, everyone was represented across the organisation.

We completed 2567 miles, raising £1387 (excluding gift aid), which has been matched by the Colwinston Charitable Trust. We are extremely grateful for the donations we have received as it will provide vital support to help NDCWales recover from the impact of Covid 19.  If you would like to donate you can visit the NDCWales Just Giving Page here.
This is what some of the team felt about taking part:

It was a lovely opportunity to feel in step and present with colleagues, in a time where we are all physically distant and working remotely.” Saoirse Anton, Tour and Projects Officer.

At a time of year with another tour cancelled and an uncertain touring schedule, it was a brilliant way to give the company something to work towards together with a clear end date and goal - and to share that with our audiences, and to encourage people to explore their local areas and enjoy being away from their screens.” Megan Pritchard, Marketing Campaigns Manager.

A huge thank you to everyone that donated and we hope to see you at a performance very soon, please come and say hello.
